NDIA New England Board Member Joel Taves

Joel Taves is a Senior Director of Contracts for Raytheon’s Integrated Defense Systems.(IDS). Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN), with 2013 sales of $24 billion and 63,000 employees worldwide, is a technology and innovation leader specializing in defense, security and civil markets throughout the world. Raytheon is headquartered in Waltham, Massachusetts.

 

Headquartered in Tewksbury, Mass., IDS has locations in Washington, California, Utah, New Mexico, Virginia, Texas, Maryland, Rhode Island, Alabama, Australia, Canada, Germany, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Its broad portfolio of weapons, sensors and integration systems supports its customer base across multiple mission areas including air and missile defense systems; missile defense radars; early warning radars; naval ship operating systems; command, control, communications, computers and intelligence (C4I) systems; air traffic management; and other advanced technologies. In this role, Taves is responsible for leadership throughout the formulation and execution of the contracting acquisition process. His leadership ensures deployment of business strategies and flawless program execution across a diverse global customer base.

 

In his previous role Taves was the IDS Director of Subcontracting and Small Business Partnering. Taves was accountable for $3 billion of supplier based commitments.  Taves has served in a number of positions with increasing responsibility, which includes 25 years of aerospace and defense industry leadership experience in Program Office Management, Contracts, Supply Chain Management, Quality and Operations.  Taves is a member of the Surface Navy Association, National Defense Industrial Association, National Contract Management Association and Institute for Supply Management. Taves holds Board of Director positions on SBANE- Smaller Business Association of New England and NDIA- New England National Defense Industrial Association.

Taves received a bachelor’s degree in both Finance and Marketing from Boston College’s Carroll School of Management. He received a master’s degree with a concentration in Management from Bentley College. Taves is a Certified Professional
Contracts Manager- CPCM.
