NDIA New England Board Member Mike MacEwen

Mr. MacEwen is the President, CTO and a Co-Founder of Beacon Interactive Systems, a non-traditional defense contractor headquartered in Waltham, MA with additional offices in Norfolk, VA.  Over the past 25 years Beacon has grown from a bootstrapped technology startup in the private sector to a leading provider of digital technology in the Defense Industrial Base.  Beacon’s products streamline the performance of Maintenance, improve Situational Awareness and enhance Mission Readiness.  They address the fundamental questions of how do we best repair, maintain and operate our equipment; and from that experience, how do we do it better next time as well as inform future make/buy decisions?

In his role as President, Mr. MacEwen plays a vital role in both corporate and business development activities as well as in advancing the financial and strategic direction of the Company.  With a foot firmly planted in both the process and technology camps, as CTO he leads Beacon’s product development efforts.  He is on the Board of the New England Chapter of the National Defense Industrial Association and a member of the Outreach Committee.  He is also on the Board of Primary Source, a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing a Global Perspective to the K-12 classroom.

Prior to Beacon, Mr. MacEwen worked at GE where he began his career in the Financial Management Program.  After several finance positions at GE Aircraft sites across the country he was asked to join the Corporate Audit Staff.  His last position prior to attending business school was at GE Capital where he managed a portfolio of real estate investments across North America.

Mr. MacEwen holds a Bachelor’s degree in Government and International Relations from Georgetown University and a Master’s in Business Administration from the Harvard Business School.  Originally from Pittsburgh, PA Mr. MacEwen now lives in Boston, MA with his wife and two daughters.
