Presenter John McKenna

President, Advanced Cyber Security Center (Retired CISO, Liberty Mutual)

John is President and CISO Chair of the Advanced Cyber Security Center, the northeast region’s only non-profit, member-driven organization committed to strengthening cybersecurity defenses in the public and private sector, and preparing the region’s response to large scale cyber threats. In this role, John leads research and NDA-based discussions among CISOs and their security teams on integrated strategies and partnerships for cyber talent, emerging tools, and vendors.

John retired from Liberty Mutual Insurance where he served in various leadership roles over his 39-year career in Technology. In his last role as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer for 12 years, John led a talented and dedicated team of security professionals to build Liberty’s global, enterprise-wide security program: strengthening core security controls and layers of defense; establishing formal governance practices to ensure alignment across all operating units; building and implementing advanced security tools and capabilities; developing security analytics and SIEM platforms; establishing Liberty’s global security operations center; and launching comprehensive employee awareness and education campaigns.

John serves on various boards and advisory committees, building cross-industry partnerships, and mentoring CISOs, security professionals, and students. John is very active in community programs, volunteering his time to non-profit organizations and local services. And he enjoys every moment he can with family – especially his three granddaughters.

John holds a B.S. degree from the University of New Hampshire.
